This mixtape comprises a wide music selection, from unsettling soundscapes to bits of classic breakcore, lots of drones, noises, arhythmic IDM, broken beats, sounds from art installations and sonic experiments.
I tried to focus on contemporary artists and to contact them directly, which I found to be the best way in searching for new sounds. After sending almost 200 emails, selecting was the hardest part: I choose almost 100 songs (some no longer than 1 minute), mashed them up and built a new atmosphere, which I find representative for the vibrant Australian underground and experimental scene. There are many times in this mix when you'll find 3 or even 4 audible pieces played at the same time, which gives you the feeling of an epic journey.
Most of the songs don't rely on a classic beat structure or lyrics. I tried to evade mainstream patterns, pop sounds or anything that can't be specific to this continent. No kangaroos, no burning forests; just pure experiments that play a lot with your years and brain.
