Ladies and gentlemen, brown dogs and polar bears, childish raccoons and blue rhinos, please make some room for this exceptional Dutch duo of composers and musicians consisting in Tom Dissevelt and Kid Baltan (on his real name Dick Raaijmakers) who put together this album, back in 1968.

The Netherlands is now very prolific on the contemporary electronic music scene, (may I use the word ‘ardent’?) but all this luscious energy involuntary has its roots on great works such as this one.

''Song of the Second Moon: The Sonic Vibrations Of Tom Dissevelt & Kid Baltan'' is a beautiful 8 tracks music experiment encompassing fusions of jazz with early electronic music experiments, firmly reshaping the Dutch wave of the musique concrete wave (a form of electroacoustic music).

It is a cinematic listening experience, as both of the musicians change the music direction on each song, and none of it can relate with the others. Three of the tracks belong to Kid Baltan, and the rest goes to Dissevelt, as this is not actually a fully collaborative album, but a selection of works from both musicians.

Former bassist and arranger for a Dutch band called Skymasters (who released three albums between 1971 and 1986), Dissevelt listened to the many German radio stations and heard works by Karlheinz Stockhausen and Anton Webern, composers that influenced his and Kid Baltan’s work. They were calling it electronic music, but you can easily notice now the major role of time, and most importantly, technology upon music.

Album tip! It’s nothing good or bad in music, it’s just the fun and exhilaration you have when you play with it!
