From Chicago Underground Duo to Jonathan Moritz

DJ K - Radio Libertadora! (Nyege Nyege Tapes)
Arigto - Lungs
Arigto is an experimental composition project formed by Noah Haußmann and Sebastian Stauß, based in Berlin and Leipzig. This album emerges from the rediscovery of an accordion following the loss of a close relative an instrument that had been a constant companion throughout their life, weaving itself into the fabric of childhood memory. At its core lies the recognition that both human and accordion share the same essential act: breathing.

Chicago Underground Duo - Hyperglyph (International Anthem)
Chicago Underground Duo is the long-running collaborative project of composer/trumpeter/electronicist Rob Mazurek (Exploding Star Orchestra, Isotope 217, New Future City Radio with Damon Locks) and composer/drummer/mbiraist Chad Taylor (jaimie branch’s Fly or Die, Marshall Allen’s Ghost Horizons, Luke Stewart’s Silt Trio). Hyperglyph is their first album in 11 years, and 8th in the absolute cabinet of wonders that is the Chicago Underground Duo.

DJ K - Radio Libertadora! (Nyege Nyege Tapes)
DJ K started producing music at 17, diving deep into FL Studio tutorials and honing his craft. Now at 24, he’s emerged as one of the most daring and inventive voices in contemporary Brazilian funk. Hailing from Diadema, on the outskirts of São Paulo, DJ K quickly rose to prominence with his creation of bruxaria—a dark, noisy, and psychedelic spin on baile funk that redefines the genre’s boundaries.

V.A. - Elders of the Begena: The Harp of David in Ethiopia (Death Is Not The End)
"The Begena is one of those rare musical instruments of the world that has survived for more than 5800 years. What is fascinating about it is not only its age but the fact that both its manufacture and the purpose for which it is being played have never changed during all these years. It is still made of wood and animal products, such as the intestine of the sheep for the strings, the leather that covers the sound box. It is used for praying, for praising God and for meditation, just as it was in the olden days and it has survived until the present day. During the time of the Derg regime, after the overthrow of the emperor Haile Selassie, it was no longer considered important. As for the Begena, which used to be broadcasted through the radio during the fasting season, all this was stopped. At that time I was a teacher at the music school, the only music school in the country, and because I did not get the necessary support to develop it I had to stop, because I was not allowed to teach. And so we could say that it did become a disappearing popular art. But not anymore, especially in the past 15, 16 years it has revived. There are many Begena players, mostly youngsters, of whom I have taught more than 500 students. Still there are some Begena makers, who make the instrument for new students. What is interesting about this instrument is that the music, or the tone that comes out of this instrument, has a special power to make people to concentrate, to keep quiet, to be carried away in thoughts, thinking of what is said. This is a special quality. You don't have to be an Ethiopian, anybody can listen to it, automatically it will make him keep quiet and concentrate." Alemu Aga

Jonathan Moritz - Love You to Death (Infrequent Seams)
Jonathan Moritz is a saxophonist and composer whose trio Secret Tempo returns with Love You to Death, their second album marking over two decades of collaboration between Moritz (tenor saxophone), Shayna Dulberger (double bass), and Mike Pride (drums). Rooted deeply in jazz tradition yet boldly exploratory, the trio continues its profound investigation into spontaneous interplay, emotional expression, and the delicate balance between composition and improvisation.

From Los Zheros to Mike Cooper

Led Bib - Hotel Pupik (Cuneiform Records)
Founded by drummer and leader Mark Holub while at Middlesex University in 2003, Led Bib has had the same line-up over its 22 years and 10 albums, but on Hotel Pupik the group faced its biggest challenge yet: the departure of keyboardist Toby McLaren, a vital part of the ensemble since its inception. For this album, the group comprises Pete Grogan (saxophones), Chris Williams (saxophones, effects), Liran Donin (bass, effects) and Mark Holub (drums). “We were thinking about creating something where the album itself is a story, and in this case, really considering the LP format of 20 minutes to each side”, Holub says.

Los Zheros - Psychedelic Cumbia Party (Vampisoul / Key Records)
Psychedelic Cumbia Party brings together for the first time the best recordings of Los Zheros, a pioneering band of Amazonian cumbia from Peru. Their sound blends fast, percussive cumbia rhythms with surf-style electric guitars. The album features their psychedelic rock hit ‘Cuarto oscuro,’ a highly sought-after track not only among cumbia collectors but also garage and psych DJs.

Mike Cooper - When A Screaming Comes Across The Sky (Room 40)
"I made these pieces in the first two weeks of June 2025 as Israel continued (and continues) to commit war crimes in Gaza and the rest of Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and then, with the full support of most of the western worlds governments, with its attacks on Iran. Dedicated to Thomas Pynchon and all friends and colleagues displaced or missing since 1948 in this on-going tragedy that should never have happened in the first place." Mike Cooper

Phil Elverum & Arrington de Dionyso - Giant Opening Mouth On The Ground
This album comprises American improviser and musicians Arrington de Dionyso (contrabass clarinet, lalove, voice) and Phil Elverum (gong into subwoofer, room).

Ranil y su Conjunto Tropical - Sonido Amazónico (Vampisoul)
Ranil is undoubtedly the most unconventional figure among the greats of Amazonian cumbia, earning a well-deserved place alongside iconic bands like Los Mirlos, Los Wembler’s, and Juaneco y su Combo. This compilation offers a glimpse into the vast musical output Ranil created in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Psychedelia, rock fusion, cumbia, salsa, mambo, Amazonian folk.

Portuguese saxophone player and photographer Rodrigo Amado (tenor saxophone) meets American improvised Chris Corsano (drums) in this new album recorded live at ZDB, Lisbon.

Sheriff Lindo and the Hammer - Ten Dubs That Shook The World [2025 Edition] (EM Records)
There are certain albums which shake the world immediately upon release, and others which come from far underground and whose shocks and aftershocks rise to the surface gradually over the years, gaining momentum and power. “Ten Dubs That Shook The World” is of the latter type. Since its original vinyl release in 1988, the prescient impact of this Australian homemade dubwise solo massive by Anthony Maher aka Sheriff Lindo has become ever-more apparent and influential.

Tom Gershwin - Wellspring
On his new album, Wellspring, Tom Gershwin draws evocative inspiration from that constant, close-to-home reminder that the currents of energy and life continually flow through and around us, needing only to be tapped into and meditated upon in order to be channeled into vibrant creation. Wellspring convenes a stellar quintet largely composed of the bandleader’s longtime collaborators: Tom Gershwin (trumpet), David Ambrosio (bass), Mike Bjella (saxophone), Perry Smith (guitar) and Colin Stranahan (drums).

Tony Orzano, Bryan Rohmer, Jeremy Wexler - Balloons On Grass (577 Records)
Comprising Tony Orzano (saxophone, clarinet), Bryan Rohmer (guitar, pedals) and Jeremy Wexler (drum set), this album fluctuates between post-rock, noise and free jazz, with the shared element of improvisation. The results are nearly an hour of music, bursting with creativity and life.

Valentina Magaletti & YPY - Kansai Bruises (AD 93)
Drummer, percussionist and composer Valentina Magaletti (Moin, Holy Tongue, Vanishing Twin) has combined forces with musician, producer and composer YPY (aka Koshiro Hino of Goat) for their LP, Kansai Bruises.
