Batiscaf Radio: The Buzludzha Mixtape

Published

December 4, 2017

When Wladyslaw Komendarek performed at Boiler Room in November 2014, you knew Agata Pyzic was right. The extravagant prog patriarch of 80s Polish electronica became then and there the agent of a very contemporary trend - the excavation of the communist era in search of its most precious stones. Just one year before Komendarek's concert, Strut Records, with the help of Future Nuggets collective, recovered through a much-spoken record the past of a very unique Romanian musician, Rodion-Ladislau Rosca/Rodion G.A. The raids of the Finders Keepers reissue label within Central and Eastern European soundtrack territories began a long time ago, starting with Lubos Fiser's fabulous film music for Valerie a tyden divu. And so on. Resembling those strange and futuristic spomenik monuments, the last three decades of the Eastern Bloc, 60-70-80, are cultural galaxies to be intensely explored through the sound of the most idiosyncratic music meta-genre, electronica.

The Buzludzha Mixtape is an immersion of Batiscaf Radio in one of the most fascinating music field in the former Eastern Bloc: electronica.
