Karpov not Kasparov is a musical game of chess between vintage synthesizers and drums. There are nor winners neither losers in this game but there are always energetic trippy sounds, subconscious oriental tunes intertwined with danceable electroclash pulses. However, there's more to it than just the music. Live shows are always different and might include contemporary dance performances, live projections of chess games played by the audience, aerobic classes or live score for old silent films.
They have released two EPs in 2011 and 2013 that were re-united in an instrumental LP released at the end of July 2015 on Berlin based label Polychrome Sounds. New material is on the way; in anticipation of the vinyl LP release of Karpov not Kasparov on JunoRecords (UK), one half of the project, Valeriu, made an eclectic - partly schizoid - mixtape for The Attic Podcast, including influential gems from now and then, post-romantic obsessions and indescribable obscure finds.
